Entertainment Bios 2017

Alive In the Lights – 4:00 pm Light the Night Stage

Alive in the Lights was formed as a small project, starting with Madelyn Porras as vocalist, guitarist, and pianist, Simmy Grewal as vocalist, and Amanda Martinez as a bassist as well as a vocalist. The band became more serious once accompanied by their drummer, Elita Barus, and lead guitarist Alex Padilla. Since their formation in 2013, Alive in the Lights have written and produced original songs, and played at various places, including Chain Reaction, Knotts Berry Farm, California Adventure, and Raging Waters.


Dance Arts Center

Home to children, teens and adults aspiring to be professionals and to those who simply wants to gain knowledge of the performing arts and benefit from the social, moral, mental and physical aspects of dance and exercise.

Celebrating it’s 28 years , Dance Arts Center continue to attract people of all ages taking classes in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Ballroom, Philippine Folk, Polynesian, Voice and Piano lessons instructed by experience teacher with the direction of Tony Salamat, internationally trained and acclaimed dancer who for over 28 years taught, choreographed and performed with world class entertainers all over Europe.


Jam Fusion Band
(formerly Kids Fusion) – 5:00 pm Light the Night Stage

Formerly known as Kids Fusion Band. They play in festivals here in San Diego and Las Vegas. They had been a guest performer in CW6 tv and ch44 in Los Angeles.


Southern Sea, Dragon and Lion Dance Association
– 6:00 pm Light the Night Stage

The Southern Sea, Dragon and Lion Dance Association, is a community based organization that is founded on the basis of preserving the culture and art of Chinese Lion and Dragon dancing. Since its inception they have grown to be one of the largest and most recognizable teams in San Diego. They hope to spread cultural awareness throughout the San Diego region and they can be seen performing at various festivals and events.


Swing San Diego
– 6:30 pm Light the Night Stage

Swing San Diego has social dances that bring you the best music from the 1920s – 1950s.  Take our lesson before to learn some cool moves you can practice that same night! A great way to make new friends and have fun, Swing San Diego invites you to join!

 

Hālau Hula Kāhea O Kalaniana’ole – 7:00 pm Light the Night Stage

Hālau Hula Kāhea O Kalaniana’ole, under the direction of Aunty Kāhea Stinson. This Hālau 1st opened its doors here in Mira Mesa in 2012 and is a Traditional Hawaiian Hula school. Hula class instruction include boys/girls, men/women from ages 5 – and up. Aunty Kāhea’s Hula School specializes in Ancient and Modern Hula instruction while learning Hawaiian language, Hawaiian arts and crafts, and other cultural enrichment activities.


Los Reyes Del Ritmo
– 7:30 pm Light the Night Stage

Los Reyes Del Ritmo is San Diego’s Premier Latin Band paying tribute to the Gypsy Kings and Rumba/Flamenco.


Wildside Band
– 9:00 pm Light the Night Stage

Performing in many venues throughout San Diego, Orange County, Las Vegas, Arizona, and Palm Springs, Wildside has made a big impression, opening up for many of their favorite artists.  In 2013, they appeared at the Magic 92.5 Under the Stars Concert, opening the show for Dazz Band, Lakeside, and Confunkshun.  Then in late 2014, they were honored to open up at the Magic92.5 Masters of Funk Concert for Zapp, One Way, SOS Band, and The Bar-Kays. These are some of the bands’ most memorable highlights of their careers. The Wildside Band is San Diego’s hottest high energy dance cover band playing your favorite TOP 40, R&B, Funk, Old School, Reggae, Rock and Blues.

 


Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble
– 4:00 pm Community Stage    

The Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble of the Samahan Filipino American Performing Arts & Education Center performs traditional gong-chime music and dances from the southern Philippines. Formed in 2003 by UCLA alumni and Samahan musicians from San Diego, Pakaraguian performs traditional music and dances from the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) cultures of the Maguindanaon, Maranao, Tausug, Sama, and Yakan ethno-linguistic groups. Through intense research and study with descendants from the following ethnic minorities Pakaraguian has created regionally specific performance repertoires here in the Filipino American Diaspora in order to represent these marginalized ethnic minorities with integrity and respect.


U-Jam Fitness San Diego
(Jam Diego) – 4:30 pm Community Stage    

U-Jam Fitness® is an athletic urban dance fitness workout that combines easy to learn steps and high energy music for a workout that will get your heart rate up, your body moving, and make you work up a sweat in no time — all while having fun!

 

The 606 – 8:15 pm Community Stage  

The 606 is locally grown right here in Mira Mesa.  Two years ago in class room 606 three 4th graders came together with the same love of music.  They are now in six grade and Joined by 9th grader from Mira Mesa high school, Dillon  Halpin who plays the bass and keyboard. Elijah Marrewa on drums, Ana Constantine on lead guitar and Reese Cormier is lead singer and back up guitar and bass.

 


DJ Josh Giggin – 9:15 pm Community Stage

Josh Giggin is Founder/DJ of Eclectik, aiming to spread positive vibes thru music and spread the sound of tomorrow! He will be dj’ing future beats and neo trap soul music. He has performed numerous numbers of shows with Soulection and has created his own bar show that showcases local talent in San Diego/socal. They threw our first show called .Wav in November that filled max cap at the World Beat center which showcased plenty of SoCal talent.

Kid’s Fusion Band

This group once performed at CW tv 6 (Kearny Mesa). Pinoy Pride celebration in Las Vegas for 3 years. A regular performer at Hard Rock  Café (down town,San Diego) and regular too at Wingstop (Chula Vista). They have performed in a various community festivals, wedding party ,birthday party and Christmas party as far as LA.  Pls. check on our Facebook page.

Hālau Hula Kāhea O Kalaniana’ole

Traditional Hawaiian hula dance performances featuring ancient and modern dances using live music and recorded music. Traditional Hawaiian instruments used during dances. Performersʻ ages range from 8 yrs to 60 years old.

Naruwan Taiko

The name of “Naruwan Taiko” stems from the same word “naruw’an” from the indigenous Taiwanese Ami language meaning “Welcome [for] we are all in the same family.” Similarly, to live up to its name, Naruwan Taiko’s mission as a performance group is to welcome people of all ages and all levels to join (not just limited to the Taiwanese or Japanese community) and to learn the style of Japanese drumming. As a group, Naruwan Taiko hopes to encourage teamwork, creativity, physical activity, and confidence in expression for each individual.

Southern Sea Dragon & Lion Dance

Our organization was founded in the year 2008 and since then we have been part of hundreds of celebrations all across San Diego County in weddings, grand openings, and cultural festivals .

The Naked I

We have all been performing musicians for at least 10 years. This band in particular has performed in gigs all around San Diego, and beyond, for the past two years. Including bars, private events, clubs and coffee shops.

Bryant Ghost Colocho

Made finals for LA’s 41st Korean Festival 2014.  I’ve been dancing for 9 years, popping for about 8 years.  Besides doing performances I’ve done dance battles in San Diego, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

The 606

They have played for their elementary school Sandburg elementary as the head liners of the school talent show, they were invited back to do a 5 song set this year at the Multi-cultural Fair evening.  The recently played at Villa Musica’s piano and percussion recital at the closing act and Played a 5 song set for a local spring/easter festival at Christ the Cornerstone church (none of the band are members there but they were seen on FB as a local mira means band).  They are now getting ready for Salk Elementary School’s Earth Day celebration where they will be playing with the likes of Oceanside’s band Caliber!

SM Familia

Highly energetic latin/funk/cumbia reggae band.  They have played at many different venues and fairs/fest over the past couple years. Have played from the Belly Up tavern as opener for Bside to Adams Ave Street fair which is always a huge event

Blue Kanon

We’ve been performing at Japanese Friendship Garden since 2006 every 2nd Saturday, and at numerous Japanese/Asian related events – D6 night market 2nd year.

U-Jam Fitness

We work out together all the time and have pulled together performances incorporating the fitness format.  U-JAM Fitness® takes you around the world from Bollywood to Hip-Hop with an intense cardio dance workout designed to burn calories, tone your body, and leave you begging for more!

Summer Sage Road

Music experience for over 40+ years with a rented recording studio. Also have been a personal piano tuner for Neil Young.

Tony & Angie Salamat Dance Arts Center

Folkloric & Cultural Dances from the Philippines.  They have performed at Seaworld lunar new year festival 2016 & 2015, Asian Cultural Festival, SD County Fair, Chula Vista Centennial, and many others

Funk’s Most Wanted

Funk’s Most Wanted was formed in 2003 by Rulon’ Master Ru” Davis and Clay “Cashmere” Watkins. The band through many a hard moments stayed the course and with hard work became the Number one funk band in the city. this was confirmed by the title of the 2011 Ultimate Music Challenge Champions. These funksters have played with some of the industrys biggest names like The Time, Zapp, Average White Band, Lakeside just to name a few. If you’ re looking for a party this is the band to see.

EraNetik

EraNetik has been performing for over a decade. He dances professionally and is a recording artist who knows how to get the crowd moving.
